Paul Grant
Drums
playing drums every Sunday at church. At about age seven, Paul attended a concert for a band his cousin played for and decided to get on the drums after the concert was over. He picked up a stick and played a jazz groove and that’s the moment that birthed his love for the drums. From that point Paul was playing drums for evening services where his passion for music grew deeper. Paul is a self taught drummer and credits his playing style to George “Spanky” McCurdy, Chris Dave, Dennis Chambers, Lil John Roberts and a slew of Brooklyn native gospel musicians.
Mike Hall
Bass
Mike Hall (born October 23rd, 1989) is an American bassist from New Jersey who has been featured in numerous major music publications, most notably
for his distinct creative approach to solo bass playing that involves a blend of harmonics, two handed tapping, slap, pop, and flamenco techniques.
He has toured throughout the east coast under the independent label Canadian-American Records with the project “Running Late”, while being able to share the stage with the like’s of 3 Doors Down, Plain White T’s, Lifehouse, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Collective Soul, MGMT, America (The Band), Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Third Eye Blind, Gin Blossoms, Hot Chelle Rae, Vertical Horizon, Blondie, Sugar Ray, Neon Trees, Blue’s Traveler, Smash Mouth, The Wallflowers, Howie Day, Sugar Ray, Eve 6, Switchfoot, and Everclear.
Mike is currently an endorsed artist to Skjold Design Guitars, joining a roster that includes Bass Player Magazine’s 2021 “Best 21st Century Bassist” candidate Damian Erskine, David Dyson (New Kids On The Block), Pepe Hernandez, Alex Ryan, Tony Grey, Bill Bodily, and many others.
Charlie Doell
Bass
Montclair State University. He has worked as an active, freelance bassist and private instructor in North Jersey for the past 20 years, gaining experiences in a multitude of musical styles that include blues, Christian contemporary, country, funk, hardcore, heavy metal, hip-hop, metal, Motown, pop, punk, r&b, reggae, rock, ska, swing and more. Bass recording credits include John J. Peterson, JP & Co. Music, Emory’s Fall, On Cloud 9, Lone Wolf’s Blue Venom Band, and tuba on Braxton Hicks’ “Lie To Me” (2007).
Victor Coppola
Guitar
at Berklee College of Music. He studied under the tutelage of Tomo Fujita, Dave Fiucyzinski and Mike Stern. After graduating from Berklee and moving to New York City, His approach to guitar composition and theory was revolutionized some years later by Paul Sullivan, an apostle of guitar great Linc Chamberland.
Victor worked in the recording environs of Philadelphia at Kajem/Victory Studios (ultimately owned and operated by Boyz II Men) in Gladwyne, PA with the likes of Weather Report alumnus Peter Erskine, jazz saxophonist Michael Pedecin, jazz saxophonist Grover Washington Jr., Tonight Show house band The Roots, singer/songwriter Jeffrey Gaines, prog metal trailblazers Queensryche, celebrated producer/engineer Andy Johns, renowned Soundgarden producer Terry Date, and guitar virtuoso Vinnie Moore.
He toured with bands in and around the Northeast and Europe and settled in NYC starting a career in audio post production for radio, tv, music and film. He since has made his career as an IT developer/engineer and operates Prophecy Sound as a production and recording facility in Montclair, New Jersey – home of the annual Montclair Jazz Festival.
Our Story
TRIAD was formed by Victor Coppola in 2018 as a fusion collective of musicians brought together to produce and interpret music at a higher level. All members are accomplished musicians in their own right, and the roster is fluid, incorporating ever-changing personnel from the arenas of jazz, blues, rock, gospel and R&B.
